Referrals and Funding
You do not need a referral to access therapy or assessment services, however access to certain funding streams requires a referral as detailed below:
Therapy
Medicare
For valid Mental Health Treatment Plan holders, a Medicare rebate of $96.65 per session applies. Medicare rebates are processed at the time of payment.
In the case of late-notice cancellations, you will be responsible for payment of the fee as this is not covered by Medicare.
Note there is an out-of-pocket expense for MHTP clients as I do not bulk-bill.
Private health
Please ensure that you are covered for Psychology before booking an appointment. Full payment is required at the time of the appointment ( I do not have HICAPS facilities). You are then responsible for submitting the claim to your health provider directly.
Private Fee
You are responsible for full fee payment and no rebate is available.
WorkCover QLD
I will consider acceptance of WorkCover referrals on a case-by-case basis. Your injury type needs to be recorded with WorkCover as ‘psychological’. If approved for WorkCover sessions, no payment is required by you (except in the case of late notice cancellations where you will be responsible for the cancellation fee).
DVA
Visit your health provider to discuss a referral. If approved for Psychology, no payment is required by you.
Assessment
Medicare
Under 25-year-olds may be eligible to access up to 4 Medicare rebated sessions when referred by a paediatrician or psychiatrist for assessment of Autism.
No Medicare rebate is available for assessment for adults aged 25 years and over.
Private Health
Check with your fund if they provide partial cover for psychological assessments.
Access
In-person sessions
My consultation room is located up a flight of 15 stairs. Please advise at time of booking if you need a downstairs room appointment (no stairs).
NeuroAffirm Psychology is located inside of Ko Kollective building (a black shed-like building with a multi-coloured round logo).
Free parking spots are located at the front of the building marked 'Visitor'.
The main entrance to Ko Kollective building is always locked. Ring the doorbell when you arrive. Reception will answer the door as soon as they are able.
There is a main waiting area with a kitchen where you can help yourself to a hot or cold drink (reception can assist).
There is alternatively a quieter area to wait - please let us know if you need this option.
Telehealth Sessions
Telehealth sessions are delivered via Healthdirect Australia using Coviu data encrypted end-to-end software for the call.
The Telehealth link is the same for all sessions and can be found in the signature section of all emails from NeuroAffirm Psychology click the link at the start time of your appointment (there is no software to download). You will be directed to a waiting room, and then be admitted to the secure session.
Note that Telehealth appointments require a reliable video connection and cannot be conducted over voice call only.
